Gorillas (1-1): 42 Dragons:
31 (0-2)
On the brink of losing the entire season, the Gorillas responded to early year adversity by pulling out a double digit
victory against the Dragons. The win was a total team effort, as 3 players chiped in double digit scoring performances. In
addition, Tim Hixon and John Forgette pleased coaches with their first looks of the young season. Ryan "the disciple" Brochu
went 4-5 from behind the 3 point arc to promt the Gorillas to their first victory. With the triumph, the team moves into a
5 way tie for 4th place at 1-1. However the toughest test of the season, and arguable game of the week lies a head, when
the Gorillas will play the Ryan Jones lead Demon Deacons in week 3.

Demon Deacons (2-1): 50 Golden Gorillas: 46 (1-2)
Im blind, im deaf, I want to be a ref.
In what rec ball nation is calling the "greatest game ever played", the Demon Deacons slid narrowly pass the Gorillas
in double overtime, 50-46.
After jumping out to an early lead on the silky shooting stroke of PJ "the apocalypse" Picknelly (who had 11 points in
total), the Gorillas fell behind till midway through the second half. The comeback, and eventually lead change was single
handedly lead by the Messiah, who earned a double-double on the night with 26 points, and 12 blocks.
However controversy struck in the final moments of the contest, when Ryan Jones drove the lane and pulled up for a game
tying jumper with 6 seconds left in regulation. Although it appeard to most in attendance that Smitty cleanly blocked Jones'
shot, game offical Joe Lavoie thought otherwise, and sent the former yellow team misfit to the free throw line for a chance
to send the game into overtime. Jones made both shots, and after a final missed shot by Smitty, the game would go another
5 minutes. At the end of those 300 seconds, the score was notted once again, and the game should have ended in a tie; according
to league rules anyway.
But in the interest of putting a result on this glorious battle, the decision to play 2 more minutes was made. Despite
the effort from the Gorillas, the Deacons proved too worthy of an advasery, as they pulled out the 4 point win.The Gorillas
next game will be against the junior powerhouse team, the Gamecocks at 7, at the green gym.

Golden Gorillas (2-2): 32 Gamecocks: 31 (2-2)
Coming into Saturday night's date with the Cocks, the Golden Gorillas stood at 1-2, having just lost in
double overtime to the Demon Deacons. Also, with head coach Bob "Knight" Hellinger on a recruiting visit in Colby, Maine,
former AIC two sport stand out Ron Smith took over duties to lead the Gorillas into battle.Despite being double digit underdogs,
the Gorillas covered the spread in the first half, falling behind by a score of 14-7. All 7 points of which were scored by
Steve Smith. The Messiah would continue this trend until midway through the second half, when Mike "the prophet" Hellinger
would add a layup to end the streak.
The tide of the game, and for that matter the entire Gorilla season would change dramatically, when super-star
guard Mike lavoie recieved a technical foul, thus ending his participation for the remainder of the game. The yellow team
would take advantage, going on a 10-2 run to take take the lead with just over 3 minutes to play in regulation. With 15 seconds
left in the game, the Gorillas found themselves down 1 point, 31-30. After running the clock down to 5 seconds, "the Messiah"
spun past a Gamecock defender, faded away, and the hit the game winninh shot to propel the Gorillas to a 32-31 victory. The
win puts the team at 2-2, and also serves as the biggest win of the season.

Gorillas (3-2) Runnin Rebels (1-4)
You can rest Gorilla fans, the victory offically belongs to us. After checking with the
head of the Rec commission, the ruling is as follows. Because the Rebels only needed 5 players to play, it was illegal for
them to pick up 2 players to make 6. Thus true justice is served, and the Gorillas win by default.

Gorillas (4-2): 42 Nuggets (5-1): 35
In front of a crowd of 34 screaming G-Unit fans, the Gorillas held off the previously 5-0 Nuggets 42-35, for a victory
of historic proportions. With the defeat of the unanimous #1 Nuggets, The now 4-2 Gorillas sit in at a comfortable 3rd
place in the league.
The chances of a Gorilla win took a large hit late Thursday evening when ESPN correspondent Andy Katz reported that guard
John Forgette was arrested for possesion of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushroooms. Coach Bob "Knight" Hellinger acted swiftly
and suspended Forgette from Saturday's game. However the team looked at this potentially embarrasing incident as a way to
come closer as a team, and that is exactly what they did against the Nuggets.
The game got off to an ideal start for the Gorillas, as MVP forward Steve "the messiah" Smith scored the teams first
8 points, propelling his team to an early lead. Also, Sean "the general" Sullivan finally acted as a combat veteran scoring
a series of fast-break lays ups to lead the team into halftime with a narrow lead on the #1 team in the USA Today AP polls.
The second half started off quietly for the yellow team, as the three headed monster of Cimmino, Anti, Gray moved the
Nuggets into the lead. Although with a "true messiah like preformance" from Steve Smith, the game stayed even
until around the 5 minute mark of the half, when the Gorillas rallied wtih mulitple fast breaks points off of Nugget turnovers
to take a 9 point lead. The margin wouldn't fall below 7 from this point forward, and as the last seconds ticked off the clock,
the Gorillas found themselves a 42-35 winner. The team also found themselves literally overwhelmed with the outcome as fans
stormed the court in utter celebration.
"The better team won today, that's all I have to say" commented superstar guard Ben Cimmino shortly after the contest.
Whether or not this is true, three things remain certain ... a nugget undefeated season is no more, the Gorillas are
a force to be reckoned with, and Anthony Mercallino is the most hated person in Rec Ball/Minnechuag Regional High
School.

Gorillas (5-2): 61 Terripans (0-7): 53
Coming off the biggest upset win in franchise history, the Gorillas entered Saturdays competition against the winless
Terripans riding a wave of confidence and a 2 game winning streak.
Controversy nearly plagued the yellow squad for the second time in 3 games when only 3 Terripan players showed up to
the green gym in time for the game. However, being the classy orginization that the Gorillas are, the Terripans were allowed
to select 2 players from the stands to participate in the match.
The Gorillas jumped out to an early lead, opening up as much as a 10 point gap, but the Ben Cooper
lead Terripans pulled the game to within 2 points at halftime at 27-25. The game remained close most of the second half
until the last few minutes of game, when the Gorillas pulled away as the game finished at a score of 61-53, marking
the most points scored in a game so far this year for the one of most storied franchise in rec basketball history.
Mike "The Porphet" Hellinger recorder his first triple-double of his young yet illustious rec ball career, putting up
31 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 assits. PJ "the apocolypse" Picknelly also chipped in with a sound performance, adding multiple
cluth baskets down the stretch to put the contest out of reach.
Next week the Gorillas will square off against divison rival, and self proclamed "bad boys of rec basketball" the
Warriors, in a pivital game for both sides. In spirit of the matchup, the first 4,000 G-Unit fans in attendance at the game
will recieve offical "Prophet" replica "Thug Life" bandanas.

Gorillas (6-2): 51 Warriors (4-4): 35
Behind a heroic
1-24 shooting effort, capped off by a three pointer at the buzzer from Pat "william wallace" Lynch", the
Gorillas pounded the Jolicouer-less Warriors 51-35 Saturday.
Without superstar
twin duo Mike and Dave Jolicouer who were attending a charity function for "aid to Darfur", the Warriors were left defenseless to the merciless "messiah" and his band of
disciples. Despite 21 points from Steve Coveney, the Warriors were never able to come back from their 27-17 deficit at
halftime.
The Gorilla
scoring tandem was led by Mike "the prophet" Hellinger, and coupled by yet another generous performance from PJ "the
apocalypse" Picknelly. In addition, larger than life and living legend Steve "the messiah" Smith showed the league why the
G-Unit is the classiest team in Rec Ball, as he took pity putting up a mere 6 points.
With the win
the Gorillas take over sole possession of 2nd place, improving their record to 6-2, including 4 straight wins. With only two
games remaining on the schedule, the team all but locks up a top seed in the playoffs; a familiar place for the
Gorilla organization and its fans.
The Gorillas
next contest will be Wednesday against the 3rd place and Cinderella story Greyhounds, who have rebounded nicely after
a dismal finish in the cellar of last season's standings. The game will be televised on ESPN as part of "REC Wednesday", and
can also be heard on WEEI radio network. The team will conclude the regular season Saturday verses the Bulldogs.

Gorillas (6-4): Bulldogs (6-4):
With the absense of Mike Hellinger, who was recruting a blue chip prospect in Chicago, the Gorillas chose to forfeit
the game. It should be know that the Gorillas didn't forfeit out of lack of dedication, or passion for Rec basketball. The
team simply refused to play without the Prophet, and there should be comended for there dedication.
