Once again the Gorillas came through under the intense pressure of the rec draft with a fundamentaly sound
and classy group of selfless individuals.
With the 6th overall pick in the draft, the Gorillas selected Steve "the messiah" Smith who formely stared
in the under 3 division for the 5 Stepping Stones Day Care team.
"Being selected by them is not only an honor, but the second greatest achievement in my life, ranking
only behind birth itself," said Smith upon notification of his pick.
Negotiations are ongoing between Smith's agent and team officals, however team captain Mike Hellinger remains
optomistic that Steve will report to "training camp" which opens on December 21 with a done deal.
Gorilla fans were also pleased with the teams 2nd pick, former freshman standout Sean Sullivan who will
take the point guard position. This pick was followed up by Ryan "the disciple" Brochu, who wanted nothing more for
christmas but to be a Golden Gorilla.
Other notable selections, and soon to be fan favorites include both Pat and Mike Lynch, as well as PJ Picknelly.
Tim Hickson and Dave "the rave" Brehaut were both added via trade, and rounding out the list was the last pick,
but first in our hearts ... freshman John Forgette?
